-Military and economic aid to 12 Latin American dictatorships. E.g Pinochet in Chile
-Africa: violated UN embargo in Rhodesia and stifled attempts to end apartheid in S.Africa; Congress' preventing Ford's attempt to use CIA to intervene in Angola
3. Evaluation/perspectives Task: How far do these two article agree/disagree in their perspectives of Ford's foreign policy? Why do you think (fellow Republican) Reagan asserted that Ford was weak on Communism? Why do you think Carter advocated a foreign policy based on moral values in the 1977 election?
